Its been a while since our last post, so here’s a recap of recent news and a few announcements of upcoming screenings.
Nearly two years since its world premiere, Mi Chacra continues to screen at festivals around the world.
This past spring, the film toured Europe, screening at festivals in Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, France and Russia. Along the way, the film was awarded the prize for Best Film by a Non-Anthropologist at the Etnofilm Festival in Rovinj, Croatia.
In August, the film was presented at the Cervino International Mountain Film Festival in Valtourneche, Italy and the Inkafest Mountain Film Festival in Huaraz, Peru, where it was awarded the Grand Prize, as well as the award for Best Film on Mountain Culture, and Special Mentions for its portrayal of Andean Culture and its use of Music.
And I returned yesterday from Taipei, where the film was screened as part of the Taiwan International Ethnographic Film Festival. The discussion after the screening was excellent, and I was very happy to see Mi Chacra received so warmly.
Up next, the film will screen October 22nd at the Procrastinator Theater on the Montana State University Campus in Bozeman. Following the MSU screening, the film will be presented as part of the upcoming Society for Visual Anthropology Film Festival in Montreal this November, where it has been announced that Mi Chacra is one of two films to have received an Honorable Mention. And finally, the film will screen at the Filmar en America Latina Festival in Geneva, Switzerland this October and November.
There will also be a handful of broadcasts of the film coming up around the world, and we’ll try to keep you posted.
